Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Booker T & The MGs, The Markees, Eddie Floyd, and many others on STAX records, Memphis, Tennessee, all had one thing in common.  The bass player on their records was Duck Dunn.  In 1967, the entire STAX revue toured Europe and changed music over there forever.  They shared one core band, the MGs, both live and in the studio.  Later, Duck was a member of the Blues Brothers playing himself in the movie.

The style of the STAX sound was the bass and drums playing together in close rhythm, and the bass and guitar playing  very stripped down parts so that the soloists could do their thing.

There are mostly 50s houses in my part of the city.  Some 60s and 70s, but older as you get closer to Olde Towne, where the Victorian and Craftsman homes are.  This one also has a 50s kids toy out front.  (I think it is a toy)

In actual Olde Towne, there is Watson's Drugs.  They have booths, inside and outside tables, a counter, and an actual ice cream soda shop behind the counter.  They serve breakfast and lunches.  The interior was used in a scene from the Tom Hanks period movie, "That Thing You Do" and Liv Tyler actually sat in one of the booths.  The title song from the movie is on the jukebox.

I can walk to the baseball stadium where the Anaheim Angels play.  This is from last June.

I like to go to estate sales.  I almost bought this Hammond A100 organ and Leslie speaker at one a couple of months ago.  It would have been my second one, and this was going very cheap.  The A100 is just like the famous B3, but with extra cabinetry for permanent installations like a church.  Each component weighs about 300 lb, 136kg, something my back reminded me when I was taking the photos.  I passed this time because I was saving up to get a brand new portable model that weighs 17 lb.  I have the new one now.
